The People of Iran : 1st Amendment Exercises

As of June 17, 2009, Iranians have taken to the streets for the third day of protests of a claimed psuedo-election. The Iranian government has actually started shooting at protestors. Every country has the right to nuclear power, but every country does not have the right to create nuclear arms. If you want to be part of the modern world, then there are standards that must be met. Iran is one of the last countries left in the world that lets religion dictate the rule of law. State and Religion should forever be separated. The coverage has been lengthy, and I think diplomacy is the way to go, and the State Department is handling this situation accordingly. I think we should impress on the Iranian people that we want them to be free and have free uncompromised elections. Is the UN really doing its job and monitoring elections? Why not have them monitor ours? How about they be the third party that counts the votes? Hmm, yeah, I don't think so. So how do you hold your government accountable for holding fair elections? I think the United States again sets such great precedence with having locals man election polls. Even though the method of voting is still up in the air, there should always be a papertrail, America holds great elections!
